cornelius johnson

cornelius johnson depicted the Civic Guard of Middelburg in 1650.
Anna Cheveley and Lucy Odlin both painting conservators from London worked during July 2016 on the conservation of this painting together with Marjan de Visser

Thanks Anna and Lucy for being my colleagues, we were a good team, lots of exchange and changes we shared. Hope to see you another project.

tear repair with needle and thread

It's not always the painted side of a painting that counts when it comes to conservation. Also the backside can become a very interesting conservation issue. In this case where the angry artist destroid his canvas, it is possible to do a tear repair with needle and thread. Weaving up and down the threats is an exhausting job…but very satisfying as it becomes a strong connection.
